- The 5th Annual Environment Excellence Awards
(AEEA) distribution ceremony held at a local
hotel, to honor 37 best environment friendly
companies of Pakistan and 3 journalists from
various organizations.
National
Forum for Environment & Health (NFEH)
organized award ceremony where Sindh Minister
for Environment and Alternative Energy Askari
Taqvi, City Nazim Karachi Syed Mustafa Kamal,
Secretary Environment Mir Hussain Ali, Dr.
Sami-uz-Zaman Member Environment Tribunal
Sindh, Chairman NFEH Dr. Kaiser Waheed, President
M. Naeem Qureshi, Vice Chancellor Hamdard
University Dr. Naseem Ahmed, Dr. Bashir Syed
and Naeem Mughal Director Technical EPA presented
the awards to the recipients.
The
award has been instituted to recognize and
promote the organizations which make an outstanding
contribution to sustainable development. They
aim to highlight policies, practices, processes
and products from all sectors of business
in the country, which help achieve economic
and social development without harming the
environment and natural resources.
Sindh Minister for Environment Askari Taqvi
and City Nazim Karachi Mustafa Kamal have
congratulated the award winners and called
upon industrial units to fulfill their responsibilities
for improving environment.
They lauded the environment friendly industrial
units and said that government gives importance
to those industrial units who comply with
environmental laws and others should also
follow these rules. Both the ministers appreciated
the performance of National Forum and assured
of their fullest cooperation in this regard.

Nazim Mustafa Kamal also awarded a special
award for best performance of City District
Government Karachi. Minister environment stressed
on implementation of environmental laws in
industries & municipals organizations.He
said more than 80 percent industrial &
commercial organizations not implementing
environment standards since 1997, according
to WHO report every year 30,000 people are
dyeing in the country due to pollution. He
appreciated efforts of NFEH to promote awareness,
education of environment. he also appreciated
award winners for the betterment of environment.
