I am glad to know that National Forum for Environment and Health (NFEH) has organized the National Conference on Environment Development wherein experts will deliberate on this issue and share their valuable experiences that will go a long way in fostering sustainable development in the country.

Our resolve to protection and conservation of environment is reflected from one of the five ‘E’s” in our manifesto which stands for environment. My government realizing the urgency has declared the year 2009 as the year for environment and earmarked Rs.2.2 billion in the current budget for launching mega environment projects in the country.

I am pleased to note that NFEH is taking important steps in highlighting and acknowledging the role of such environment friendly and organizations, whose long term vision translates profitability into responsibility.

I appreciate the efforts of NFEH in spreading awareness on the issues related to environment, and assure them of full support in this endeavor.

I congratulate the recipients of the environment excellence award rightly earned for their commitment to the cause for a better environment and hope that the organizers and participants will encourage and inspire others to follow suit.
