Our Activities

Promoting Consumers' Rights & Responsible Practices

The National Forum for Environment & Health (NFEH), along with the Helpline Trust, has been the watchdog of consumer rights since 2015. This step was taken after acknowledging the many hurdles consumers in Pakistan have to face, among which are misleading advertisements, unfair trade practices, low-quality products, and the lack of easily accessible complaint mechanisms.

In response to these problems, NFEH has started the awareness campaigns, workshops, and educational programs in different cities. In these events, they have invited the government officials, lawyers, business leaders, NGOs, and ordinary people. Through these activities, consumer issues are being aired, and at the same time, the solutions are provided to draw a fair, transparent, and just marketplace.

Advocacy for Consumer Courts

One of the program achievement aspects is to advocate for the creation and empowerment of Consumer Courts. NFEH, along with Helpline Trust, has taken the initiative to inform people about the places as well as the methods of submitting their grievances if any injustice has been done to them in the consumer rights area.

  • We hold seminars and policy dialogues to bring consumer courts into focus.
  • We work with government institutions to make these courts more accessible and efficient.
  • Through publicity campaigns, we inform citizens about their legal rights and the necessary procedures to follow to file a case.

By closing the gap between consumers and the justice system, NFEH is aiming to create a scenario where companies and service providers are forced to follow ethical practices and ensure that they are under the scrutiny of the watchdog.

Creating a Culture of Awareness

We follow the principle: A consumer who knows is a consumer empowered. By means of school programs, university lectures, and corporate awareness drives, we educate citizens of different ages about their rights and obligations.

By raising awareness, we make sure that consumers have the necessary tools to:

  • Recognize the clinicians of unjust trade practices.
  • Make the purchase based upon sound information.
  • Expose the offenders who break their rights.
  • Speak up for better services and products.

Achievements & Impact

Over a period, our collaborations have had a great impact on the advocacy of consumer rights.

  • Increased Awareness: To this day, we have organized several awareness sessions and seminars, and thousands of people have come to us to learn about their rights.
  • Policy Discussions: NFEH has not only brought together the policymakers for such discussions but also invited others who have an interest in the reforms of consumer protection laws to talk.
  • Community Outreach: The campaigns at the grassroots level have helped educate local communities about the existence and role.
  • Media Engagement: Campaigns via print and digital media have elevated the message to a broader crowd, reaching it.

Future Goals

On the whole, NFEH is dedicated to the improvement of consumer protection structures in Pakistan. Our future objectives are as follows:

  • Rural areas will be the starting point for the awareness programs, where consumers will be far more protected than now.
  • Cooperating with state institutions to make the consumer courts more efficient.
  • Making use of digital platforms to file consumer complaints and thus increasing accessibility.
  • We will continue to hold businesses accountable for their good practices with the help of the dialogues and workshops.

Our vision for the distant future is to become a society where consumer rights are universally respected, legally enforced, and socially acknowledged.
